Gammy, the purple she-wolf of the Alpi del Mare, is the official mascot of the Granfondo!

The Granfondo Alpi del Mare has its mascot: Gammy!

Her name comes from the initials of the event (Granfondo Alpi del Mare), while her color, purple, represents passion, uniqueness, and the connection with the wild nature of the Alpi del Mare.

Why purple?

Purple is the color of energy, courage, and transformation. It symbolizes the connection between the strength of the mountains and the spirit of the cyclists, who on September 21 will tackle the route with determination. It also evokes the Alpi del Mare landscapes at sunset, when the peaks turn violet, offering a unique spectacle.

The wolf and the Alpi del Mare

After decades of absence, the wolf naturally returned to the Alpi del Mare in the 1990s, finding a perfect habitat among forests and rocky ridges. This animal represents resilience, strategy, and the sense of belonging to a pack, qualities that perfectly reflect the group spirit of the Granfondo.

The creative vision behind Gammy

Giorgio Mondino, Creative Director of Estroverso and the Granfondo Alpi del Mare, explains the choice of the mascot: “Gammy is not just a symbol, but an idea that unites the territory, the race, and its participants. The wolf is an iconic animal of the Alpi del Mare, resilient and determined, just like those who face this challenge. Purple is the color of passion and energy, but also of the magic that this event brings. We wanted something unique and recognizable, and Gammy perfectly embodies this spirit.”
